Connecting People For Effective Participation, Canada

SUBTLE TECHNOLOGIES brings people together to promote wonder, incite creativity and spark innovation across disciplines. The theme for the 2014 festival was Open Culture: Participatory Practices in Art and Science.

Workshop description:

We talk, talk, talk. But what are the skills we need to engage in “participatory practices” so that we actually get something innovative and meaningful out of them? Together, we will learn and play with two fundamental skills for fostering connection simply, quickly and deeply. These support and enrich the type of participation that leads to desirable emergence in human systems. Emergence is at the heart of innovation — when something new arises out of the interactions in a system that none of the individual parts (or people) in the system contributed alone. You will leave with two connection-fostering skills you can practice throughout the rest of the festival, in your work, and in your life. So if you’re curious to explore what’s possible when people connect, join us!
